Overcoming Comparison & Doomscrolling on Social Media

Social Media Boundaries for Better Mental Wellbeing ✨

Hello dear friend,

This week I’m opening up about my journey to creating a more peaceful and joyful relationship with social media.

Social media can be fun, entertaining, and a great way to stay in touch. But for many of us, it’s also a major source of self-comparison, overstimulation, and disconnection from our real lives. In this episode, I share how I’ve come to set better boundaries around how I use social, and how you can too.

Whether you’re on Instagram or TikTok daily or just check in every now and then, I hope these reflections help you rethink what you’re allowing into your mind and spirit.

Here are a few takeaways from the episode:

💓 Self-comparison is natural, but dangerous when left unchecked. I talk about social comparison theory and how it’s impacted my body image, mindset, and joy over the years.

💓 Doomscrolling doesn’t help. I reflect on how social media deepened my depression and what it took to break the habit.

💓 Your time and attention are sacred. I share how dopamine, notifications, and overstimulation affect our brains, and why boundaries are an act of self-care.

💓 What you consume shapes who you become. We talk about the biblical principle of guarding your thoughts, and how to curate a healthier online environment.

💓 Practical ways to do better. I offer gentle, honest suggestions for how to use social media more intentionally, without falling into the trap of comparison or distraction.
